This policy library provides policies and guidance to the research community in the effective administration of research compliance. This library covers such areas as animal and human research protections, biosafety, and conflict of interest in research. Accordingly, when use of laboratory animals is deemed necessary, the University has in place strong policies that govern animal care and treatment. Likewise, Princeton University is committed to conducting research with the highest regard for the welfare of human subjects, with every effort being made to protect the safety and well-being of research participants while facilitating ethical research conduct. A Biosafety Manual contains policies that encourage those working in the laboratory environment to work safely and reduce or eliminate the potential for exposure to biological hazards. Further, every University researcher is obligated to make appropriate disclosure when, in the investigator's judgment and in the spirit of the University’s policies concerning conflicts of interest in research, there is a risk of conflict of interest or serious appearance of conflict.
